Description:
We redesigned the existing comments tab to have a new look and also show both submission comments and item comments in one place.
Who can use it:
All users with access to the relevant submission will be able to use it.
Limitations:
- Feature needs to be enabled
- Only item versions with comments are included in the item comments
- Item comments are read-only, users can add new comments or reply to an existing comment by navigating to the item in questions, using the view/annotation tool
- Item commenting has not been changed or updated
- Print submission feature will only included stage specific comments and not all
How to use it:
- All Comments: When users opens a Submission, All Comments () tab is visible with General Comments and Item comments as sub-tabs.
- General comments: Initially the comment textbox is in a collapsed form, once user clicks inside the input box, it will expand and the other options such as Internal comment, Add attachment, and Cancel/Save will be available.
- Expanded comment textbox: Ability to mark as Internal comment, ability to add Attachments.
- Mentions: To mention licensees/licensors/agents in the comment, enter @, a list of available users will be displayed.
- Comments: Newly added comments will be shown as an accordion panel in the collapsed form. The details of the comment e.g. Commented by, user avatar, submission stage, number or replies (if available) and number of attachments (if available) can be seen in the panel.
- Comment with attachments and replies:

Edit/Delete: To view additional available actions e.g. Edit/Delete and the Comment box to reply to main comments, click the carrot/arrow down action.
- Users can Edit or Delete their own comments only.

Reply: We provide only one level of reply option, what this means is a user can reply to only the main comment and not to a reply on a comment. Users can reply to any comments they have access to. Same as with Comments, users can tag others by entering @ and typing name of the user they wish to tag.
- Users can add attachments to a reply as well
- Reply with an attachment
- Attachment downloads: Users can download the attachments, one at a time by clicking directly on each attachment if multiple are available.
- Internal Comments: Users can mark comments as Internal by selecting the Internal comment checkbox, If the main comment is marked as an Internal comment, reply(s) to a main comment are by default internal.
- Internal comment is shown with a red dot in front of the comment.
- Locked comments: When a Submission is Completed or Archived, the comments are locked(read only), what this means is a user cannot add, edit, delete or reply to an existing comment. The comments can still be views in the Submissions and attachments can also be downloaded.

Item Comments: Comments are read-only. Only item versions with comments will be shown. Users need to go to the item view to see all version comments.
- When there are no items with comments, the message below will be displayed:
- Item comments will also be collapsed by default. Users can Expand or Collapse all item comments by clicking on EXPAND ALL | COLLAPSE ALL option.
- When users click on the down arrow on the right side of a panel, more versions of an item with comments will be displayed. The link available below the items will always default to the latest version of an item.
- To add new comments on an item or reply to an existing comment, user need to go to the item view (annotation tool).
General Comments

Comments are read-only when the submission is Completed or Archived. The submission needs to be re-opened so users can add, edit, delete or reply to comments.
Item Comments

Item comments are read-only. To add new comment or to reply to a existing comment, users need to go to the item view(Annotation tool).

Only item versions with comments will be shown. Users need to go to the item view to see all versions.

The version links will always go to the latest version of the item. To see previous versions, users need to use the compare feature in the item view.
